Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Visit to the 防災館 was a good way to learn Japanese whilst also doing something fun (and learning something else too). Also I enjoyed speaking with the locals from the university.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Most interesting was practicing speaking with teachers, or with locals who visited from the university. Least interesting was repeating set scenarios from the textbook and a class (just repeating the phrases in unison).

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Activities where we would go to different rooms in the school and ask questions about the objects we saw, activities where we would go to a different location (such as the tea ceremony room) and activities where we would actively talk without just repeating something and have to decide what to say ourselves.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Learning about things that would be considered rude in Japan, because then I would try to avoid these things in real life.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Please don’t only do the course to get a visa so you can live in Japan. Only do the course if you are interested in learning Japanese.
